De Wecker

The Alarm Clock

Peter sien Oellern sünd verreist, un so mutt Peter morgens sien Wecker alleen hörn, wenn he rechttiedig to School kamen will. Dat klappt lang nich immer; Peter kummt oft to laat in de School an. Dat passt den Schoolmeister gor nich un so fragt he, :"Peter, du kummst recht oft to laat. Hest du denn keen Wecker?" „Doch, Herr Lehrer, heff ick, aber de rötert all, wenn ick noch slapen do, un denn kann ick em nich hören!"

Peter's parents are travelling, and so Peter has to hear the alarm clock himself if he wants to arrive at school in a timely fashion. For a long time that hasn't worked. Peter often arrives at school late. That doesn't satisfy the teacher at all and thus the teacher asked, "Peter, you really come late to school too oftern. Don't you have an alarm clock?" "Oh yes, Mr. Teacher, I have (an alarm clock), but it rings all the time when I am still sleeping, and then I can't hear it!"
